It did not take long for the prospect of redemption for Tuesday's events to come the way of Paul Townend and that opportunity was seized with some relish as he rode the mare Pravalaguna to victory in the 2m4f rated hurdle on his first ride of the day.

It turned out to be the first of three winners on the card for the rider on what would become a memorable afternoon for his boss Willie Mullins, who landed an incredible 9,802-1 six-timer, the first of the champion trainer's career.

Townend gave the daughter of Great Pretender a very accomplished ride, biding his time for a gap to open in the straight and asserting strongly from the last to win by eight lengths.
