Conflated goes straight to the Gold Cup - but Gordon Elliott still priming strong Leopardstown team
Gold Cup contender Conflated was a significant absentee from the Dublin Racing Festival forfeits unveiled on Tuesday, but Gordon Elliott is still looking forward to unleashing a strong team at Leopardstown headed by rising star Mighty Potter.
Mighty Potter is the 9-4 favourite for Sunday's Ladbrokes Novice Chase after handing out a beating to subsequent Grade 1 winner Gaillard Du Mesnil at Fairyhouse on his last start, and he looks the headline act of a Dublin Racing Festival squad that could also feature the likes of Fury Road, Irish Point, American Mike and Zanahiyr.
The Drinmore winner is unlikely to be joined in the 2m5f Grade 1 by stablemate Gerri Colombe as Elliott feels he would prefer a softer surface than the one he is likely to encounter at Leopardstown. The seven-year-old is also entered in the Scilly Isles Novices' Chase at Sandown on Saturday.
