Lee Westwood probably loves racing just as much as he loves golf. The one-time world number one has won big before at the Cheltenham Festival and he did so again by snaring a whopping £48,200 from a £240 stake on Wednesday.

Westwood, 45, put seven selections in a Super Heinz and got off to a dream start when City Island stormed home at 8-1 in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle.

Wins with Topofthegame (4-1), Altior (4-11), Tiger Roll (5-4), Band Of Outlaws (11-2) and Envoi Allen (9-2) followed, with just Killultagh Vic in the Coral Cup failing to hit the frame.

Westwood took to Instagram to share his good news, posting: "Boom. I love Betfair."

The golfer's love for racing also extends into ownership, as classy mare Augusta Kate ran for Westwood when owned by The Masters Syndicate from 2015 to 2018.

The Willie Mullins-trained mare made three appearances at the Cheltenham Festival, but the closest she came to a win was when sixth to Penhill in the 2017 Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.
