A jockey who is riding high and going into Cheltenham with a spring in his step

Lewis Porteous catches up with in-form rider Adam Wedge

For all that good horses make good jockeys, the art of riding regular winners is as much about staying injury-free and building momentum. Fortunately for Adam Wedge he is on one almighty roll at the moment.

The 30-year-old, raised in the market town of Halesowen in the West Midlands but now residing in the village of Pontyclun in south Wales, is enjoying a season to write home about having already bagged more winners in a campaign than ever before and with a select book of big-race rides for the spring festivals taking shape.

King among his 61 winners since the start of the season is a much-cherished first Grade 1 victory and he is currently sitting pretty in the top-ten jump jockeys when it comes to winners and prize-money. Not even the best efforts of Storm Ciara or Dennis could halt his momentum.
