You have to rewind to Politologue in 2020 to find the last time a home team player scored in the Champion Chase, Ryanair or Gold Cup and it is not hard to envisage another clean sweep for the Irish in 2023.
Energumene, Allaho and Galopin Des Champs are hot favourites for the three races and the presence of Blue Lord in the Champion Chase and the Ryanair means Willie Mullins has a solid back-up option were anything to go wrong with either of the big guns on Wednesday or Thursday.
The fact we have not seen Allaho yet this season is obviously a worry but Mullins seems to be happy with his progress and, if anything close to the real Allaho shows up in the Ryanair, he will be extremely hard to beat. He breaks the hearts of horses with his relentless galloping.
