Royal Ascot day four preview

It’s the three-year-olds who are the ones to watch on day four, with the best in the sprinting division doing battle in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup, in which Sandy Lane scorer Inisherin is likely to carry the favourite tag.

There’s more Group 1 action on the track, this time for the fillies over a mile in the Coronation Stakes, and we see the return of English 1,000 Guineas winner Elmalka.

The King Edward VII Stakes, also known as the Ascot Derby, and a juvenile race for fillies - the Albany - sit alongside three enticing handicaps which add more excitement to the day – the Duke of Edinburgh (4.25), the Sandringham (5.05) and the Palace of Holyroodhouse (6.15).

His latest second is good form too, with the winner a close third in Listed company on his next start, and a return to a more conventional track might help. Harry Eustace saddled a couple of seconds on the opening day and can go one better here.
