Appears to handle any ground; very consistent performer whose form figures read 11123122; won the Albany on this card 12 months ago and the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket in September; neck second, splitting Elmalka and Ramatuelle, in the 1,000 Guineas on sole run this term; holds solid claims back at Royal Ascot.

Along with Opera Singer she's a daughter of Justify; versatile ground-wise; solid record reads 1211223, most recently shaping like the best filly in a strongly run 1,000 Guineas when she was collared only in the final strides having kicked for home far too soon in hindsight (eventually ran out of steam having looked the likely winner for most of the last 2f); could well reverse placings with Elmalka and Porta Fortuna with a more delayed challenge on the cards; highly respected.

5-5 in Italy last year for Stefano Botti, then kept up the good work in the Fred Darling at Newbury on debut for Marco Botti; finished behind a couple of these rivals in the Pouliches last time, losing her unbeaten record and somewhat exposing her limitations on first Group 1 attempt.

Justify filly whose progressive 2yo campaign culminated in an impressive performance in the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp (1m) where she drew clear for a 5l success on ground that was faster than the official good to soft; likely to be at concert pitch with reappearance (below-par third in Irish 1,000 Guineas) under her belt; remains of strong interest.

Versatile ground-wise; juvenile campaign featured a success in Curragh Group 3 and good effort at the Breeders' Cup (1m); about only 2l behind Rouhiya in the Pouliches on reappearance; useful filly but needs improvement to land this prize; yard has a much stronger chance with Opera Singer.

Placed in the May Hill and Fillies' Mile last term, both on soft going; form dipped sharply in good-ground 1,000 Guineas on sole start this season, as she folded tamely and ended up about 14l behind three of these rivals; needs to rebound in a huge way and can't be supported with confidence.

Close second to Dance Sequence (subsequent Oaks runner-up) in Newmarket Group 3 on final 2yo start and things didn't go her way (met early trouble, ended up in poor position) in the Irish 1,000 Guineas on reappearance; has something to find on ratings but may still have more to offer.

Kingman filly who bagged Listed honours at York (1m, good) five weeks ago, settling better in first-time hood and taking record to 3-3; headgear retained; well down this pack on bare figures but she's improving and promises to rate higher still; interesting upped further in class.

Prevailed narrowly in a blanket finish for steadily run Pouliches at Longchamp (1m, soft) last month, belying her big odds and taking record to 2-4; that looks below-average Classic form but the Poulains winner, a similar type, ran well (20-1 third) in the St James's Palace Stakes here on Tuesday; further progress is completely possible.

Won at Southwell (AW) on sole 2yo start, then ran well in the Fred Darling; subsequently belied her 28-1 odds in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket (1m, good) where the cards dropped perfectly as she was favourably drawn and came from well off the strong pace (got up in the final strides); tactical matters aside, she holds major claims provided that form is backed up.

Ramatuelle
Compensation awaits RAMATUELLE, who looked the best filly in the 1,000 Guineas and seems likely to play her cards later than at Newmarket where she might well have won but for hitting the front too soon. Oisin Murphy takes over from usual rider Aurelien Lemaitre. Porta Fortuna (second choice) also has a good chance of reversing Newmarket placings with Elmalka, who had everything drop right. Opera Singer is highly respected on her Boussac form.

What happened in the Coronation Stakes last year?

down

TAHIYRA was winning her third Group 1, confirming Irish 1,000 Guineas superiority over Meditate, helping her own cause by leaning in on the runner-up, resulting in that one being squeezed out. Remarquee, well beaten in the 1,000 Guineas, showed her true worth this time, looking a shade unfortunate as she was squeezed up just as she was getting a little tapped for toe. Meditate was disappointing. It hadn’t been the plan to make the running again, as when second to the winner in the Irish 1,000, but she ended up in front and should have made her old rival go more than she did, fading late.
