JA McGrath with three tips for Wednesday's Sha Tin card

Resolute
1.15 Sha Tin
2pts win
Party Everyday
1.45 Sha Tin
2pts win
Righteous Doctrine
2.50 Sha Tin
2pts win
Righteous Doctrine is tipped to land one of the most competitive races seen on dirt in Hong Kong when facing 11 rivals in Wednesday’s Class 2 handicap (2.50) over 1m½f at Sha Tin.
Every heat on the eight-race card is on the all-weather track – a big change to the normal midweek programme – which gives a growing number of specialists on the surface an opportunity to pick up prize-money.
Not only can the Michael Chang-trained Righteous Doctrine be termed a dirt specialist, he is also among the best-handicapped horses in the higher grades.
He recorded back-to-back wins on the all-weather in Class 3 company last season before proving equally adept when switching to turf and stepping up a grade. All three wins locally have come over 1m1f, but the slightly shorter trip should not bother him.
Prior to export he won three races in France, including two on the Polytrack at Deauville.
Chang, whose claim to fame is being the first Hong Kong-based trainer to win a race in North America, does well from limited opportunities, and Righteous Doctrine is his best at present. Expect a win at a decent price.
Kings Shield, a son of Scat Daddy, has a similar profile to Righteous Doctrine although both his wins locally have been on dirt. He has drawn awkwardly but Zac Purton can be trusted to get a good early position, while Elusive State and Touch Of Luck also have claims.
Earlier on the card, the Tony Millard-trained Resolute should be backed. He registered an easy win on the all-weather last month and consequently has gone up 8lb in the ratings, which should enable him to follow up in the Class 4 6f sprint handicap (1.15).
His partner Karis Teetan is the jockey to follow on this intriguing card, as he also rides the consistent Party Everyday, who is tipped to make the most of his inside draw in the Class 4 handicap (1.45). Skyey Supreme is his danger.
Bets can be placed into Hong Kong pools with the Tote, Coral and Ladbrokes. First race at Sha Tin on Wednesday is 11.15am GMT
