'They'll have had their eye on this for a while' - Harry Wilson's tips for every race on Plumpton's Easter Sunday card

Harry Wilson returns with his advice for all seven races from Plumpton on Easter Sunday

1.50 Plumpton
ExTech Cloud Computing Mares' Maiden Hurdle, 2m4½f

Harry's tip: Lady D'Arbanville

Jasmine D'Airy probably has the best recent form on offer, but I'll take a chance on Lady D'Arbanville, who makes her debut for Ben Clarke. She needs to step up on her recent efforts, but she stormed home by seven and a half lengths in a bumper here in December 2023 and could bounce back now returning to this track for the first time since. Her hurdling debut second has worked out well enough, with the winner going in twice since and now rated 122, while the fourth won her next three starts and was narrowly beaten off a mark of 114 at Cheltenham on Thursday.

2.20 Plumpton
Mayo Wynne Baxter Novices' Handicap Chase, 2m1f

Harry's tip: Alien Storm

Alien Storm tends to save his best for Plumpton, jumping excellently when making a winning chasing debut over this distance in September and getting back on track following a couple of defeats elsewhere when taking a 2m3½f handicap over fences on his last visit to this course. He's just 1lb higher than for that win and will take some pegging back.

2.55 Plumpton
Harry & Betty Savill Memorial Novices' Handicap Hurdle, 2m1½f

Harry's tip: Barrabool

Barrabool was disappointing in a competitive series final at Kelso last month, but she was sent off at just 8-1 and I'm willing to forgive her that run now she takes a big drop in class. She was a comfortable winner over 2m at this track on her hurdling debut in November before facing a tough ask at Windsor behind Jubilee Alpha (Listed winner at Cheltenham on Thursday), and she produced a career-best Racing Post Rating when splitting the now 120-rated Tour Ovalie and Anno Power, rated 113, at Taunton in February, which makes her mark of 103 look workable. Harry Derham has fitted her with a tongue-tie and is 7-17 (41 per cent strike-rate) with runners sporting that headgear for the first time.

3.30 Plumpton

Harry's tip: Major Fortune

Major Fortune was a four-time winner at staying trips over hurdles, so it was no surprise to see him take a step forward from his chasing debut when upped in trip at Leicester last month, finishing just three-quarters of a length behind Mahons Glory, who comfortably won his next start. He was always going to find the drop to two miles against him last time, but this trip is far more suitable and he looks to be on a workable mark.

4.05 Plumpton
BetGoodwin Sussex Champion Hurdle Handicap Hurdle, 2m

Harry's tip: Hansard

Hansard showed he was potentially very smart when finishing fourth in the Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in 2023, a race in which the top three are now rated at least 149. He also looked good when winning the 2023 Gerry Feilden and ran a huge race under topweight in a contest that worked out superbly well at Ascot that December. He really caught the eye with how well he travelled when third behind Golden Ace and Burdett Road at Wincanton in February, and although he has failed to figure in top handicaps at Cheltenham and Aintree, he is worth another chance at a track he's won at before.

BetGoodwin Top UK Online Bookie Handicap Chase, 2m3½f

Harry's tip: Centara

Shakeyatailfeather won comfortably at Cheltenham on Thursday and will likely be a big player under a 7lb penalty if out quickly, but she seemed to improve for the drop in trip and I'd rather be with Centara over this distance. He bounced back from a couple of lesser efforts when third on his chasing debut at Wincanton last month, travelling well throughout but just getting outpaced late on. There looks to be plenty of pace on here, which will suit him as he likes to be played late, and he's now just 1lb higher than when winning a Taunton handicap over this trip last April. He can build on that promise here.

5.15 Plumpton
Phoenix Cycles Remember Ray Prior Handicap Hurdle, 2m4½f

Harry's tip: Mr Freedom

Mr Freedom tends to save his best for Plumpton, with his course form figures reading 12312, which includes his best two Racing Post Ratings. He was an encouraging third on his reappearance at Bangor following 210 days off the track last month, and that form is working out well, with the impressive winner bolting up again since and the fifth winning on his next start, while the second filled the same berth in a premier handicap next time. He's dropped to a mark 1lb below his last winning one and connections have likely had their eye on this for a while.
