The Punt Acca: Harry Wilson with tips from Pontefract and Hexham on Monday

Ardisia (2.05 Pontefract)

Bought for £33,000 and related to a few winners, the son of Ardad was a touch slowly away and had to wait for a gap as the race unfolded but found plenty to win going away on his debut at Musselburgh 12 days ago. That was a promising start and he can defy a penalty here.

Cudgel (3.48 Hexham)

Cudgel is nearing two years without a win, but he hasn't run over three miles in ages and he's a proper stayer. His three wins over hurdles came over 2m7½f in the mud here, while he also won a 3m novice handicap chase in March 2022. That's not to see he needs mud to be at his best, as his two best Racing Post Ratings have come over this course and distance on ground described as good or good to soft, and he hasn't raced in those conditions for almost three years. He's very well handicapped on old form and shaped as if coming back to form over a shorter trip here last time.

Reigning Profit (5.35 Pontefract)

Reigning Profit has caught the eye the last twice on the all-weather, repeatedly being denied a clear run at Newcastle before keeping on well for third in a race not run to suit at Wolverhampton last month. He's been dropped a combined 3lb for those efforts, which puts him on a mark 1lb below his last winning one, and the return here looks positive, given he's 2-2 over this course and distance.
