'He looks terrific value at 12-1' - David Jennings answers the burning questions ahead of a super Saturday

What's the big story?

Inspiral potentially bowing out with a bang in the Group 1 Virgin Bet Sun Chariot Stakes (2.40) at Newmarket. She has wrecked my head this season, only because you know the raw ability she has, and form figures of 463 are not acceptable for a mare of her talent.

She needs to wake up in the stalls, because if she gives Nashwa and Tamfana five lengths here it will be game over.

Still, she is surely the most naturally talented of these six fillies and you're getting 3-1 about her winning the worst race she has run in for ages.

So, who wins the Sun Chariot Stakes?

In Inspiral we trust. Now there's a sentence that would send you to the poor house this season, but she's just better than these, isn't she?

What’s the bet of the day?

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but Thunderbear looks terrific value in the 5f handicap at the Curragh (4.00) at 12-1.

It was only three months ago he was rated 105 and now he's running in a lower class of race off a mark of only 96. The handicapper has been kind and Billy Lee has been booked. He's going to be going better than anything two furlongs out, and maybe his class will see him home in front.

And the lay of the day?

Won't nine yards shy of a mile and four furlongs in the BetMGM Cumberland Lodge Stakes (2.25) stretch Al Aasy on bottomless ground at Ascot? He has to give weight to some serious rivals, too, so he's the lay of the day. Salt Bay at 8-1 is a viable alternative.

What can we look forward to in France?

The Arc appetisers are very tasty indeed as the mighty Kyprios seeks his second Prix du Cadran (1.33), two years after his 20-length wayward romp in the race.

There is St Leger runner-up Illinois in the opening Prix Chaudenay (12.23), while the Henry de Bromhead-trained Term Of Endearment will bid to continue her flawless campaign in the Prix de Royallieu (4.00), where One Evening looks a big danger.

Anmaat is my Longchamp banker in the Prix Dollar (4.35) and 2-1 is a juicier price than it should be.
