Cernunnos stands out with Geraghty getting down to minimum

IT’S not often Barry Geraghty gets down to as low as 10st 4lb these days even in the winter months – he hasn’t since February – so when he does so in the height of summer it’s worth paying attention.

And the good news is that a low weight is not the only reason for thinking Cernunnos has a first-rate chance of landing the Betfred Summer Plate (2.45) at Market Rasen this afternoon.

Geraghty’s mount was well beaten when last seen at Aintree on Grand National day, but that was on soft ground on his first attempt at 3m1f and he found the combination too much.
