BALLYMAC BUDDY is set for a trial at Monmore on Saturday night as the countdown continues to next month’s prestigious Ladbrokes Puppy Derby.

The Ted Soppitt-trained dog has checked out fine following his crashing fall in last week’s Northern Puppy Derby final at Newcastle, and is one of several talented youngsters booked for workouts.

Racing manager Tony Williamson said: “While the focus on the night will rightly be on the rescheduled Winter Derby final, there will be plenty of interest in the trials before the meeting on Saturday.

“As well as Ted’s dog, Jimmy Fenwick has four on the sheet, including Woltemade and Ballymac Service, who were the first two home in last week’s Newcastle final.

“We’ve also got John Flaherty’s Copney Queen coming down for a trial, Paul Young is giving Jimmyjimmyjimmy a look round and both Belinda Green and Maxine Locke are bringing teams along.”
