Atalanta v Inter

The Lombardy derby has typically been dominated by Inter but this matchup with Atalanta should be a close one.

Inter are going for a ninth successive league win after picking up the Italian Super Cup with a last minute Alexis Sanchez winner in midweek.

However they face a tricky challenge in the shape of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side. The Bergamo-based squad have lost just one of their last 13 and battered Udinese 6-2 last time out.

Atalanta are eight points behind the league leaders and realistically need to win here to keep their any title hopes they may have alive.

Injuries troubled Gasperini’s defence early in the season but they have subsided and the return of Berat Djimsiti will be welcomed.

These sides drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture and four of their last six meetings have been stalemates.

Inter will probably be happy to return to Milan with a point and may have to settle for a share of the spoils.

Elche v Villarreal

The only La Liga game of the day sees strugglers Elche host Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine have won four of their last five league games, including a 5-2 win over Alaves and a 5-0 victory over Levante. The only match that Unai Emery’s side have failed to win in that run was their 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid last time out.

The hosts on the other hand have won just four games all season and look up against it here.

Villarreal won the reverse fixture 4-1 in September and are taken for another victory here.

Sassuolo v Verona

Just a point separates Sassuolo and Verona in Serie A but the two sides are in contrasting form as they prepare to take each other on in the early kick-off in Italy. Verona have won just one of their last five games and have seen red twice in their last four matches.

On the other hand Sassuolo have bounced back well from a poor start to the season, losing just one of their last nine, including wins over Lazio and Milan.

The home side beat Empoli 5-1 last time out and look to be in fine form.

Alessio Dionisi’s side have also won their last three meetings with Verona and can make it four on the spin.
