Novak Djokovic v Tim van Rijthoven

Defending champion and top seed Djokovic could face a genuine test from Van Rijthoven. But while the Dutch 25-year-old, victorious in Den Bosch last month, looks likely to enjoy plenty of success on grass in the seasons to come, a lack of big-match experience will probably count against the outsider.

Jannik Sinner v Carlos Alcaraz

Alcaraz is the name on most folk's lips this year, but Sinner has pretty decent upset claims in conditions that should suit him more. After a slow start Alcaraz has eased past Tallon Griekspoor and Oscar Otte, but Sinner is showing that there is more to Italian grass-court tennis than just Matteo Berrettini and he may have the shots and the nous to upset the Spanish 19-year-old, who is still a novice on the terrain.

Cameron Norrie v Tommy Paul

Norrie has been criticised for not having the game for grass-court tennis, but the Brit has done little wrong at Wimbledon this year. He stepped it up against Steve Johnson in round three and that could spell trouble for American Paul, who has yet to drop a set in the singles.

Marie Bouzkova v Caroline Garcia

Bouzkova is having the best Grand Slam singles tournament of her career and the Czech is far from done yet at Wimbledon. Garcia, second-round conqueror of Emma Raducanu, is doing little wrong in this year's grass campaign, but the recent Bad Homburg champion may finally toil against an opponent who hammered Alison Riske-Amritraj 6-2 6-3 in round three.

Elise Mertens v Ons Jabeur

Jabeur faces a potentially tough last-16 test against the capable Elise Mertens, but the Tunisian looks as if she is doing enough to defeat the Belgian. Jabeur hasn't dropped a set in the All England Club singles this year and the confident tennis the third seed is producing can see her over the line.

Heather Watson v Jule Niemeier

Watson's major singles campaign in London this year is expected to come to an end when she meets Niemeier, according to the bookmakers. However, the Guernsey native has always been a potential title outsider in fast-court Slams, so it's possible Watson is slightly underrated against her German opponent, who thrashed second seed Anett Kontaveit 6-4 6-0 in round two.
