Andreas Seppi v Denis Kudla

Denis Kudla is no stranger to performing well on grass and the Ukraine-born American has a huge opportunity to reach the last 32 at Wimbledon.

The versatile Andreas Seppi has been and remains a fine performer on any terrain, but the Italian is 37 now and a long match may prove tough going.

Kudla is nine years younger than his opponent and should be on good terms with himself after fighting back from two sets in arrears to defeat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in his opener. The Spaniard is in decent fettle and improving on all surfaces, so that has to go down as a fine result for the qualifier.

Kudla won all seven sets he contested in qualifying, so he could have plenty more left in the tank for his second-round assignment.

Seppi utilised his lucky-loser entry well in Eastbourne last week when seeing off Yoshihito Nishioka and Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets before falling to Max Purcell in the quarter-finals.

But that form shouldn't have the perfectly capable Kudla rushing for the worry beads, especially considering he reached the final of the first Nottingham Challenger event on grass earlier this month and has victories on the surface recently over Dan Evans and Kevin Anderson.

Viktoriya Golubic v Danielle Collins

Viktoriya Golubic could provide Danielle Collins with a tough second-round test in the players' first meeting on a singles court, but this is still probably a match that the American should be winning.

Collins lacks nothing when it comes to determination and the feisty Floridian's all-round game is pretty good too.

Golubic is a battler too and the Swiss can probably be marked down as an underachiever considering the talent is there.

But that ability tends to rear its head only once in a blue moon and, because of that, it's difficult to think Collins doesn't offer value in this match-up.

Ekaterina Alexandrova v Maria Camila Osorio Serrano

Ekaterina Alexandrova looks as if she may be gradually stepping up her performances and the Russian is a useful talent, but she could find Maria Camila Osorio Serrano tougher to pass than some oddsmakers believe.

Osorio Serrano, the top seed in qualifying, needed a run of three-set triumphs last week to nail a main-draw berth and that trend continued in the first round proper when she fought back from a set down to defeat promising Anna Kalinskaya 1-6 6-0 6-4, who also secured a trip to Wimbledon via the Roehampton preliminaries.

Osorio Serrano is a positive person who is winning many fans for the way she plays the game, and that attitude and spirit could help her to keep the scoreline respectable against Alexandrova.

Katie Boulter v Aryna Sabalenka

British wild-card Katie Boulter is a feisty competitor and that may aid her cause against powerful second seed Aryna Sabalenka.

Sabalenka, 23, ousted seasoned qualifier Monica Niculescu 6-1 6-4 in her opener, but Boulter will have the support of the home fans in London and that could prove useful.

If she could hang on to Sabalenka's coat-tails in the early exchanges, it's just possible that the Belarusian, who has never made it past the fourth round of a Grand Slam singles tournament, could get rattled.

A handicap start of 6.5 games for the Leicestershire 24-year-old is difficult to quibble with.

Other matches

Frances Tiafoe should possibly defeat Vasek Pospisil after dumping French Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas out in the first round of Wimbledon, but the American's price is only the right one and punters should remember that the Canadian has been a useful performer himself in the past.

Slow-burner Jiri Vesely has a chance of defeating Marton Fucsovics but the Hungarian was crowned Wimbledon junior champion in 2010 so will have expectations of his own against the Czech underachiever.

Spain's Garbine Muguruza, Wimbledon champion in 2017, and Madison Keys should progress against lower-ranked opposition but the American may have to be on top of her game to silence compatriot Lauren Davis.
