Wimbledon: day two betting preview, tips & TV details
Nick Kyrgios should be up for a battle with fellow Aussie Jordan Thompson
BBC1/BBC2/BBC red button, from 11am Tuesday
Kyrgios v Thompson
Nick Kyrgios is a punters’ nightmare as he isn’t always in the mood to perform, but the Australian rarely disappoints at Wimbledon and he should be fully motivated to show who is boss against his less-talented compatriot Jordan Thompson.
Few players on the tour can match Kyrgios’ natural ability but getting maximum effort from him isn’t always easy.
However, bar a rare blip in 2017 when he was forced to retire in the opening round against Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Kyrgios has been pretty flawless at the All England Club, reaching a quarter-final and making two fourth-round appearances from just five attempts.
His Wimbledon highlights include silencing Rafael Nadal as a wildcard in 2014 and a four-set victory over former finalist Milos Raonic a year later. If he is in similar heart he will be a tough nut to crack.
Thompson is a talented grass-court player – he finished runner-up in Den Bosch last month – but he isn’t in the same league as Kyrgios, who should not lack motivation against a fellow Aussie.

Fucsovics v Novak
Dennis Novak made the third round of Wimbledon as a qualifier last year and the Austrian can again show his liking for the All England Club with an opening-round win over Marton Fucsovics.
Novak was a relatively unknown figure before last season’s London heroics, but the world number 104 highlighted his grass-court credentials with convincing wins over Peter Polansky and French 14th seed Lucas Pouille.
Novak’s Wimbledon adventure came to an end against classy Canadian Milos Raonic in the third round but he managed to take a set off the former Wimbledon finalist and shouldn’t be underestimated.
The Austrian, much like last year, had to come through three gruelling qualifiers but he should be the sharper of the players as a result and Fucsovics has it all to prove in Grand Slams.
The Hungarian has suffered first-round exits in six of his nine major appearances, losing both of his matches at Wimbledon in straight sets.
It is worth chancing Novak to emulate last season’s performances.

Thiem v Querrey
Dominic Thiem is a two-time Grand Slam finalist but both of those efforts came on the Roland Garros clay and the Austrian has plenty to prove on Wimbledon’s speedier surface.
Thiem’s five trips to Wimbledon have been mediocre at best, with a fourth-round appearance in 2017 his deepest run, and he could struggle to contain big-serving American Sam Querrey, who has his favourite conditions.
Querrey, a quarter-finalist in 2016 who went one better a year later, has a game well-suited to the grass and reaching the final at Eastbourne last week highlights his wellbeing.
The American has a lightning-quick serve which should ask serious questions of Thiem, who arrives in London without a tournament test under his belt having withdrawn from Halle in favour of an exhibition match at Hurlingham.
Thiem may not be as sharp as match-fit Querrey and the experienced American should be eyeing an upset.
Thiem is a much classier operator so he has to be favourite, but he could be vulnerable having lost four of his last five grass-court encounters.

Suarez Navarro v Stosur
Sam Stosur enjoyed a nice preparation for Wimbledon with three victories at Eastbourne and the Aussie veteran can continue her resurgence against Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro.
Stosur isn’t getting any younger at 35, but last month’s wins over Magda Linette and promising youngsters Iga Swiatek and Sofia Kenin suggest there is plenty of life left in former US Open champion.
The Australian has lost in the first round at Wimbledon in only one of her last seven visits and she should enhance her excellent record against Suarez Navarro, who has lost three of their last four meetings and is at her most vulnerable on the grass.

Other matches
Eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer kicks off his hunt for number nine against 22-year-old South African Lloyd Harris, while his old foe Rafael Nadal faces Japanese star Yuichi Sugita.
The second and third seed should have little problems progressing, but things could be much tougher for 2017 finalist Marin Cilic, who opens up against last month’s Den Bosch champion Adrian Mannarino.
Serena Williams is a red-hot favourite to get her Wimbledon title tilt up and running by beating Giulia Gatto-Monticone.
