There has been carnage in the women's draw with all the top ten seeds exiting the tournament but the 11th, 12th and 13th seeds - Angelique Kerber, Jelena Ostapenko and Julia Goerges - restored a semblance of order with victories over unseeded opponents Belinda Bencic, Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Donna Vekic on a manic Monday.

They could have different experiences in Tuesday's quarter-finals, though, with Ostapenko looking a solid favourite to dispatch Dominika Cibulkova, while Goerges and Kerber could struggle in their matches against Kiki Bertens and Daria Kasatkina.

Ostapenko v Cibulkova
Cibulkova has not got past the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 11 visits and she may struggle to overcome Jelena Ostapenko in their last-eight clash.

Ostapenko's performances dipped after she won the French Open as a 20-year-old in 2017 but she has got back to a decent standard this year and has produced some excellent tennis at Wimbledon, winning all four matches in straight sets.

The Latvian reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals last year before exiting the tournament with a nervy 6-3 7-5 defeat to the vastly experienced Venus Williams.

She should have learned a lot from that and takes on Cibulkova high on confidence after dismantling Sasnovich 7-6 6-0 in the fourth round.

Cibulkova has also enjoyed a smooth passage to the quarter-final, winning each of her four contests in straight sets, but the 29-year-old looks the more exposed player.

She has played in two Wimbledon quarter-finals and suffered heavy defeats on both occasions, losing 6-1 6-1 to Maria Sharapova in 2011 and 6-2 6-2 to Elena Vesnina in 2016.

The Slovakian leads the head-to-head battle 2-0 – posting a 6-3 6-3 success at Eastbourne in 2016 and a 6-4 3-6 6-3 triumph at Indian Wells last year – but both were achieved while Ostapenko was still a teenager.

Ostapenko has had her ups and downs since winning the French Open last year but she knows what it takes to win a Grand Slam and her Wimbledon run is set to continue.

Bertens v Goerges
Kiki Bertens has a pretty rotten record at Wimbledon, exiting at the first-round stage in four of her six previous visits – but she has looked at ease on the grass this year and is a solid bet to defeat Goerges and reach her Grand Slam semi-final.

Given Bertens' aggressive style of tennis she should be well suited to faster courts. And everything seems to have clicked for her in London, allowing her to overcome ninth seed Venus Williams 6-2 6-7 8-6 and seventh seed Karolina Pliskova 6-3 7-6 in the last two rounds.

Her confidence is rising and she should not be too fearful of 13th-seed Goerges, who she has defeated in each of their two meetings, most recently 6-2 6-1 at this year's Charleston final.

Goerges is through to the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time in her 11th visit to Wimbledon, having taken advantage of a favourable draw.

However, the German has had to dig deep, winning two of her matches in three sets, and might not have much left in the tank.

Goerges's game has failed to match up against Bertens in the past and a similar scenario could play out with the Dutch player's extra power giving her the advantage.

Kerber v Kasatkina
Daria Kasatkina is enjoying her breakthrough year on the WTA circuit and can qualify for her first Grand Slam semi-final by beating Angelique Kerber.

The Russian was a quarter-finalist at this year's French Open, losing out to heavy-hitting American Sloane Stephens.

She has taken her game to even greater heights at Wimbledon, coming through tough tests against Ashleigh Barty 7-5 6-3 and Alison Van Uytvanck 6-7 6-3 6-2.

Kasatkina's superior fitness came to the fore against Van Uytvanck and she will pose a tough test for Kerber, who is not playing at the same level as she was in 2016, when she reached the final at Wimbledon and won the Australian and US Opens.

Kerber narrowly defeated Kasatkina 6-1 6-7 7-6 in Eastbourne but another close match is on the cards and there is value in siding with the Russian underdog.

S Williams v Giorgi
Seven-time champion Serena Williams has yet to drop a set in breezing into the last eight and is a red-hot favourite to keep that run going against Camila Giorgi.

The hard-hitting American is getting stronger the further she goes and her past three meetings with the Italian have all gone her way in straight sets.

Williams is 5-4 to claim her 24th Grand Slam and should have little trouble dismissing Giorgi.
