Cardiff's woes may continue in the wind and rain at Connacht

Connacht v Cardiff
Sky Sports Action, 3.15pm Saturday

A last-gasp penalty miss against Glasgow last week left Cardiff still searching for their first win of the season and their hunt is unlikely to get any easier in forecast wet and windy conditions in Galway.

After a home reverse to Edinburgh and a heavy defeat at Leinster, the Blues would have been glad of any kind of success but even if they had edged the Warriors it would scarcely have been a deserved outcome as they looked shapeless at times and their kicking game was poor.

A new-look front row of Brad Thyer, Taufa’ao Filise and Kristian Dacey should give them a boost against Connacht but they are still struggling with injuries and haven't won a match outside Wales since February.

With rain predicted and winds gusting up to 40mph the hosts, with internationals Ultan Dillane and Quinn Roux back in the tight five, are taken to edge a low-scoring game.

Scarlets suffered their first defeat since March at Ulster last weekend but are 16-point favourites back at home to Edinurgh, who will surely have been monstered all week by coach Richard Cockerill following last week's surprise defeat to Treviso (S4C, 7.45pm).

Zebre suffered a 54-39 defeat at the Cheetahs last week and there could be more points than spectators when they take on the Kings in Port Elizabeth.

Recommendation
Connacht to win by one to 12 points
