Game Four preview

Boston Celtics’ bid for a record-breaking 18th NBA title couldn’t be going much better and all the signs are they can win Game Four to go 3-1 up over Golden State.

Sharing the opening two games at the Chase Center was good enough, but that was trumped when Steph Curry went down nursing a sprained ankle during the Celtics’ 116-100 win in Game Three on Wednesday. Pretty much the perfect night if you’re a Celts fan.

Obviously Curry’s status is massive because the Dubs aren’t half the team without him – and don’t take my word for it. “Well, we need him if we want to win this thing,” clarified Warriors swingman Klay Thompson.

Either way Boston are playing better as a team at both ends of the court and are protecting the ball better. They gave away too many turnovers in Game Two and were flattened. Then they conceded just 12 in Game Three and won easily, despite the obligatory third-quarter blitz from Golden State.

Thompson hasn’t played well for Steve Kerr’s side, while Draymond Green is getting bounced too easily by this super-strong Celtics team.

There’s no great mileage in a Boston bet, though, if Curry – top scorer in each of the three games - either doesn’t make it or doesn’t last, and the total points should dip without him on the court.
