Charles Howell leads the RSM Classic following an opening 64 on Sea Island's Plantation Course but the 36-year-old, who is winless on the PGA Tour since 2007, will have to work hard to maintain his advantage in the second round when he plays the tougher Seaside Course.

There are 15 players within four shots of Howell's lead and 13 of them played the Plantation on Thursday - Brian Harman and Peter Uihlein shot rounds of 68 to prove best of the Seaside contingent.

Roles are reversed today and anyone who struggled on the Seaside has an excellent chance of bouncing back into contention in the second round.

Howell is 7-1 favourite while in-form JJ Spaun and defending champion Austin Cook are also on offer at single-figure odds after shooting six-under 66s on Thursday.

Ante-post favourite Webb Simpson did his chances no harm with a Seaside 68 and is 8-1 from a pre-tournament 10-1.

Harman has a chance to threaten the lead playing the Plantation and appeals at a second-round threeball punting option. The left-hander is a Sea Island resident and clearly enjoys playing in front of a home crowd, finishing tied for fourth in this event last year.

He tees off at 2.50pm UK & Ireland time alongside Russell Henley and Hudson Swafford, both of whom were over par for their opening rounds, and rates an attractive option.

Recommendation
B Harman to win threeball
