Leeds are back in the Sky Bet Championship playoff positions after winning their last three games and can cement their place by beating fourth-bottom Burton at the Pirelli Stadium.

Championship teams need to know how to dig out results without playing well and Leeds did exactly that on Saturday, scraping a 1-0 success at home to Hull despite losing the shot count 15 to five.

They had problems in midfield with Kalvin Phillips below par and were not as bright in attack without Samuel Saiz, who missed out with a minor calf strain.

However, both players are expected to be fit and Leeds have an extra option up front after target man Pierre-Michel Lasogga came off the bench in the 76th minute.

Lasogga looked excellent in the first three months of the season, scoring five goals, and his return after a seven-week absence is a huge boost.

Leeds are up against a Burton side who have renewed hope in their battle against the drop after back-to-back away wins at Bolton (1-0) and Reading (2-1).

Those six points have lifted the Brewers out of the drop zone but they are still long odds-on to be relegated.

Goalscoring has been a problem. They are the second-lowest scorers in the division and the ongoing absences of injured forwards Joe Mason and Liam Boyce are being felt.

Brewers’ manager Nigel Clough will be looking to bring in some extra firepower in January but for now Burton look lightweight in attack and ill-equipped to halt the Leeds revival.
