Last term’s Portuguese League Cup runners-up Vitoria Setubal salvaged a point from their opening match in this season’s competition and they can add to that with victory against Tondela.

The hosts, who lost 5-4 on penalties to Sporting in the 2017-18 final, came from 3-0 down to draw with Nacional in their first group game.

They are eighth in the Primeira Liga, six places above opponents Tondela, and have started well under new manager Lito Vidigal, who took charge in July.

Setubal have already beaten the Gold & Greens 2-1 away in the league this term and have the front line to outgun them again on home soil.

Last season's competition top scorer, Goncalo Paciencia, left Vitoria for Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer but, having notched in each of their last six games, they have few concerns in the final third.

At the back, however, they have looked shaky, allowing their last three opponents a combined 33 shots at goal, and Tondela could notch a consolation.

The visitors are on a poor run of form with two wins in their last six but that is down to a brittle back line rather than a misfiring attack and their front two of Tomane and Sergio Pena could get on the scoresheet.
