Team news

Celtic
Winger Mikey Johnston is sidelined and new goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas must be assessed.

Hamilton
Club captain Brian Easton and Will Collar are set to miss out with injuries and the game also comes too soon for David Templeton.

Match preview

Celtic are chasing a tenth consecutive Scottish Premiership title and the champions are unlikely to face many problems on their seasonal bow at home to Hamilton.

Neil Lennon's men won 14 of their 15 league games at Celtic Park last season, losing only to fierce rivals Rangers, and they highlighted their dominance with three or more goals in nine of those outings.

Hamilton have seen a big turnaround in personnel over the summer but they look weaker defensively following the departures of Alex Gogic and Aaron McGowan, while an injury to captain Brian Easton is another blow to Brian Rice's rearguard.

The Hoops were emphatic 4-1 winners at Hamilton in February and an attack featuring Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and James Forrest should be able to make an early statement in the title race against a side who look set for a season of struggle.

Key stat

Celtic have won their last 12 meetings with Hamilton, netting at least three times in six of those games.
