Weekend preview

Marseille v Rennes

BT Sport 1, 8pm Sunday

It is testament to Marseille's attacking depth that even with Dimitri Payet and Florian Thauvin out, they look strong enough in the final third to fluster Rennes.

Dario Benedetto already has four league goals and can help them to their fourth win of the season.

The hosts have thrived in bigger matches, beating Nice, St-Etienne and Monaco, and should dispatch Rennes, who have scored in seven of their last nine games but are winless since a 2-0 victory over Strasbourg a month ago.

Levante v Osasuna

Premier 1, 5.30pm Sunday

Pragmatic and disciplined best describes Osasuna’s La Liga survival strategy and they will make themselves tough to beat away to Levante.

The hosts have kept successive home clean sheets against Valladolid and Eibar and spectators should anticipate another low-scoring affair.

New striker Sergio Leon is yet to make an impact for Levante and with five of Osasuna’s six league encounters this term featuring under 2.5 goals, that could prove the best betting strategy for the match in Valencia.

Cagliari v Hellas Verona

Premier 2, 5pm Sunday

Leonardo Pavoletti's knee injury threatened to derail Cagliari's Serie A campaign before it got up and running but the Sardinians have had no issues finding the net.

They held off a 30-shot onslaught to beat Napoli 1-0 after wins against Genoa and Parma, with new forward Giovanni Simeone notching in both.

Verona are adjusting to life back in Italy's top tier with their only win this term coming against newly-promoted Lecce and they are worth opposing at the Sardegna Arena.

Cologne v Hertha Berlin

BT Sport 1, 5pm Sunday

Cologne have had a baptism of fire on their return to the Bundesliga, playing European hopefuls Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach as well as title contenders Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in four of their first five games.

They put up a fight against the Bavarians, registering 14 shots, and won their other game against Freiburg.

With Anthony Modeste and Jorge Mere returning, they can see off Hertha Berlin, who got their first win on the board against new boys Paderborn last week thanks to a stunning goal from Javairo Dilrosun.
