Desportivo Aves v Benfica tips, Portuguese Primeira Liga betting preview

Benfica's sensational 10-0 drubbing of Nacional last weekend suggests they are not lacking motivation in their pursuit of Primeira Liga leaders Porto and they can reduce the gap at the top to just one point with a smooth success at Desportivo Aves.

Eight different players were on target for Benfica in their emphatic victory over Nacional, which was a sixth straight league success for Bruno Lage's men, and their array of potential goalscorers makes them a difficult side to contain.

The Eagles have fired in 19 goals in their last three league assignments, which includes notching four at Lisbon rivals Sporting, and relegation-threatened Aves must be fearing the worst - another 10-0 Benfica win is 200-1 with Betfair and Paddy Power.

The hosts, who are just one point above safety, may not crumble in the manner Nacional did but there should still be a gulf in class at the Estadio do CD Aves, where the division's leading lights Porto and Braga have both claimed maximum points and earned clean sheets.

And a confident Benfica, who are hoping to regain their Portuguese crown, can repeat the trick.

The visitors have won four of their last six away league games to nil and they have shut out Aves in six of their last eight meetings.

It's likely to be defensive duties first for the unhappy hosts, who will want to stay in the contest for as long as possible.

But keeping a Benfica side spearheaded by the prolific Haris Seferovic at bay is going to be a tough task.
