Guinea v Madagascar

Eurosport, 9pm

Guinea have long been on the cusp of being one of Africa's elite nations and they have reached the quarter-finals in four of their last five appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations. They should assert their superiority over debutants Madagascar.

Their success in the tournament will likely depend on midfield pivot Naby Keita, but beyond the Liverpool man they should still have too much for the Madagascans, whose most notable player is Lyon's Jeremy Morel.

Madagascar shipped eight goals during qualifying and could crumble against Paul Put's men, who topped their qualifying section above Ivory Coast.

Recommendation
Guinea -1 goal on handicap
1pt 7-4 bet365, Betway, RedZone

Key stat
Madagascar have lost four of their last five matches.

Nigeria v Burundi

Europsport, 6pm

No player scored more goals in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying than former Watford striker Odion Ighalo (seven) and the Nigerian can get his tournament off to a flyer by breaching Burundi.

The Afcon newcomers have Saido Berahino in the final third who could cause problems but a lack of defensive grit and physicality has often proved their downfall.

They won only two matches to land second spot in their qualifying group and their defence could struggle to keep taps on Ighalo, who has seven Chinese Super League goals in 2019.

Recommendation
O Ighalo to score at any time
2pts 5-4 bet365

Key stat
Odion Ighalo has scored three goals in the last four matches in which Nigeria have found the net.
