Stage 14 preview
He may have played it down for the last fortnight but Mark Cavendish made history on Friday as he claimed his 34th Tour de France stage win.
On a long day suited to the sprinters, the green jersey-wearing Cavendish reiterated his supremacy and his win in Carcassonne saw him draw level in the record books with the iconic Eddy Merckx.
Saturday's stage 14 is a hilly 183.7km route to Quillan and Cavendish is unlikely to contend. The day marks a rare trip to the eastern Pyrenees and appears to be a day for either the breakaway specialists or those general-classification riders who have yet to deliver.
Michael Woods falls into both of those categories as he aims to boost his standing in the mountains classification.
Woods first scaled Saturday's biggest climb, the category-two Col de Montsegur, in 2019 and along with Bauke Mollema and Jakob Fuglsang, looks well suited to this terrain.
