Hampshire Hawks lost their opening match of the new T20 Blast season against Kent but there were positive signs at the top of their batting order.

Skipper James Vince (34) and Joe Weatherley (37) gave their side a strong base and there was also a good performance from overseas ace D'Arcy Short, who weighed in with 29 runs.

Aussie blaster Short was brought in to add some top-order firepower to the Hawks' batting unit after they managed only two wins in the Blast last year, and punters should expect more from the big hitter against Sussex.

Short has starred for Hobart Hurricanes in Australia's Big Bash and scored 345 runs in 14 innings in the latest edition at a strike rate of 120.2. He looks a great bet to top score for his side in front of the Sky cameras at Hove.
