Yorkshire’s Joe Root saw off a Notts bowling attack including Stuart Broad and Jake Ball on Saturday and he faces another England colleague, James Anderson, in the Roses clash with Lancashire at Headingley.

Root’s unbeaten 75 helped Yorkshire make a winning start to their 50-over campaign while Lancashire failed to defend 314-8, losing to Leicestershire on the D-L method.

The Lightning are 7-5 to silence the rowdy Leeds locals and skipper Liam Livingstone looks worth a bet to top-score for the raiders from across the Pennines. Livingstone, who made 39 off 40 deliveries batting at number four against Leicestershire, also scored 68 and 168 against Somerset in his last Championship game.

Mumbai are 3-4 to inflict an eighth defeat in 11 matches on IPL ante-post jollies Bangalore while Pune Supergiants are worth backing for a home win over Gujarat Lions.

Bangalore’s batsmen were tied down by Pune’s versatile bowling attack on Saturday, crawling to 96-9 in 20 overs, and Gujarat – beaten in a Super Over by Mumbai at the weekend – may not enjoy their visit.
