Mamba Noire represents Classic-winning duo in Glencairn Stakes

The Classic-winning combination of Ken Condon and Shane Foley, who landed the Irish 2,000 Guineas with 25-1 shot Romanised last month, team up with the 101-rated Mamba Noire in the Glencairn Stakes (7.25) at Leopardstown.

The only three-year-old in the seven-runner event, Mamba Noire was placed twice at Group 2 level last year when she ran third in both the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket and the Lowther Stakes at York, and Thursday's race will be her first attempt beyond a mile.

Condon said on Wednesday: "Mamba Noire hasn't run since the Lowther and is in good form. She's trying a new trip but she's shown us that she should handle it.

"She's been training nicely, but we gave her an easy time of it and she's only been back working for about four weeks, so she's probably going to need the run and might get a bit tired."

Mamba Noire's rivals include the Dermot Weld-trained Bella Estrella, winner of both starts last year and fourth in the Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran Park on her reappearance nine days ago.

Jessica Harrington runs six-year-old Marshall Jennings, who landed a handicap over the trip at Naas last month and is likely to head the market.

"He's been placed a few times in Listed races and is in great form. Although he's stepping back up in class, I'm very pleased with him," Harrington said.

Eight-year-old Tennessee Wildcat – winner of the race three years ago – represents Ger Lyons, while Belle Boyd, a six-length winner of a maiden over the distance at Naas last summer, will be having her first run of the season.

Her trainer Willie McCreery said: "We're looking forward to starting her off. She's been in good form at home and the ground and the trip will suit her."

O'Brien pair bid to build on maiden successes

Six go to post for the Listed King George V Cup (7.55) over 1m4f and they include the Aidan O'Brien-trained pair Lucius Tiberius and Giuseppe Garibaldi, both of whom were successful in fast-ground maidens last time out.

Giuseppe Garibaldi, ridden by Donnacha O'Brien, is dropping back in distance by a furlong following his win over 1m5f at Navan five days ago, while Lucius Tiberius, successful over 1m2f at the Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend, will be going the distance for the first time.

"We've been happy with both of them since their wins and the ground and the distance will suit them," O'Brien said.

Fozzy Stack is represented by Carlo Biraghi, who made a successful debut when beating a subsequent winner over 1m2f on soft ground at the Curragh last month, while Joseph O'Brien runs Dynabee, who also brings in an unbeaten record following her maiden victory over the same trip at Cork last month.
