Expert eyecatchers: five runners who caught the eye of our analysts

Racing Post analysts pick an eyecatcher after every meeting and here we highlight some of this Saturday's runners who have been put up as ones to watch.

Ingenuity
1.20 Gowran

Analyst note: made up plenty of late ground and caught the eye

Showed useful form on the Flat, reaching a peak rating of 87. Failed to make an impression in a strong juvenile hurdle on his debut at Leopardstown, but there was clear promise at Punchestown last time when he made good late headway to finish an encouraging sixth.

Jester Jet
1.25 Haydock

Gave the progressive Magic Light plenty to think about under her Grade 3 penalty

Has finished runner-up five times in a row but no reason to question her attitude and she bounced back from a below-par effort at Warwick when making Magic Of Light work hard at Ascot. That effort was even more meritorious as she carried a 4lb penalty (also carries a penalty here), and she will not be inconvenienced by the drop in trip.

Reggae Runner
2.05 Lingfield

Didn't help himself by hanging but again showed plenty of promise. He can go one better

Benefited from the step up in trip and improved on debut effort when finishing second at Wolverhampton. Pushed the odds-on favourite close, despite showing inexperience by hanging, and is a leading player based on that form with the promise of more to come.

Lisnagar Oscar
4.10 Haydock

Shaped with a stack of promise on second start over hurdles and has a bright future

Was identified as an eyecatcher when finishing runner-up in a Grade 2 over three miles at Cheltenham and confirmed that positive impression when coping with the drop in trip to win a strong novice hurdle at Chepstow. Return to three miles will not be a problem.

Crossley Tender
5.10 Wincanton

One to keep tabs on for a switch to handicaps

Point winner who has hinted at ability on two of his three outings under rules, posting improved Racing Post Ratings on each start. Has been handed a fair mark on handicap debut – in line with what he has achieved on RPRs – but the step up in trip looks sure to suit and he has untapped potential.
