Teal: 50-1 Guineas second Tip Two Win is still being overlooked by bookies

Tip Two Win was the surprise package of the 2,000 Guineas when running second to Saxon Warrior at 50-1 – beating home Derby hero Masar in the process – and trainer Roger Teal believes the colt is again being underestimated for his Royal Ascot target, the St James's Palace Stakes.

Tip Two Win is freely available at 6-1, twice the price of favourite Without Parole, who made fairly heavy weather of stretching his unbeaten run to three in a Listed event on Sandown's Brigadier Gerard Stakes card and trails Teal's colt by 9lb on Racing Post Ratings.

Teal is not one to take offence, but he cannot help thinking the betting would be reversed if John Gosden trained his Tip Two Win and he were in charge of Without Parole.

"It's that fashion thing again I suppose," said Teal. "Without Parole is unbeaten and trained by John Gosden, but I wouldn't swap my horse for anything and the Derby was a wonderful boost for the Guineas form, even though Saxon Warrior was beaten.

"You just have to think Saxon Warrior didn't handle the track, but it doesn't get any better for us than for Masar to have won the Derby as we beat him at Newmarket and we also beat Roaring Lion, who won the Dante and was third in the Derby."

Teal, looking to register a first Royal Ascot winner, is pleased he resisted the temptation to run Tip Two Win in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas and has the colt just where he wants him for Royal Ascot.

He said: "Tip Two Win wasn't even three until a week after the Guineas, so we didn't want to go with him again too quickly. We freshened him up and he's back on song.

"He did a nice piece of work at Lambourn last week when David [Probert] came and had a sit on him, and we'll get another decent bit into him before Ascot. David is happy with him and so am I.

"If he was a red-hot favourite there would be a lot of pressure, and there's pressure enough without it. We've had a lot of support though and everyone has been amazing. We'll mind our own business now and turn up on the day, when I'm sure Without Parole and the rest will have to work hard to beat us."

Probert, who tied for victory in the 2008 champion apprentice race with William Buick, is buzzing with excitement that Tip Two Win could be the horse to win him a first Group 1.

"He's the best horse I've sat on and for a small horse he's got a big stride and terrific acceleration," he said. "He's just an unbelievable horse to ride. I loved him in Qatar, since when he's just kept on improving, so hopefully there's still more to come.

"The Newmarket form is holding up really well and he felt great when I sat on him the other day. I was very happy with him. Roger's done a great job and he was very relaxed..

"My only Royal Ascot winner was in the Britannia three years ago on Born In Bombay, but I've ridden in the Group 1s there, although never on one with a chance like he has."
