Winners keep flowing for Watson and Mulrennan as Glen Shiel strikes again
Archie Watson improved his already impressive stats at the Tapeta track when combining with Paul Mulrennan to win the feature 6f conditions race with Glen Shiel at the expense of game veteran Danzeno.
The surprise was the market drift to 3-1 considering Glen Shiel, second in a Group 3 at Deauville last time, had won two of his previous four visits to Newcastle and Watson had sent eight winners to the track from 19 runners this season.
Mulrennan, who enjoyed the second best month of his career with 21 winners in July, was continuing his midsummer hot streak in completing a double, having won the 7f handicap on another course specialist Thaayer.
