'They are not machines' - Paisley Park camp philosophical after Stayers' defeat

Aidan Coleman was at pains not to make excuses for Paisley Park's poor showing in the Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle but revealed last year's hero lost two shoes on the way to finishing seventh behind shock winner Lisnagar Oscar.

Paisley Park, sent off the 4-6 favourite, endured a nightmare passage on the long run in between the final two hurdles but Coleman believes that was because he didn't have the horse under him to squeeze through the gaps.

Coleman said: "I was very happy with the first three-quarters of the race, but then from the top of the hill to the finish we got a torrid passage. But the only reason we got a torrid passage was because it wasn't the normal Paisley. The room was there but I just didn't have the horse to get there.
