The world is Global Applause's oyster after landing Listed Scarbrough Stakes

A rejuvenated Global Applause looked a sprinter for the future after giving trainer Robert Cowell his second successive winner of the Listed Scarbrough Stakes.

The race, which was sponsored by DC Training and Development Services, was a triumph for the Newmarket-based trainer as he was also responsible for the third horse, Encore D'Or, who won the race 12 months ago, with the upgraded handicapper El Astronaute splitting the two.

A smart juvenile, who won the National Stakes and finished fourth in the Gimcrack, Global Applause failed to fire as a three-year-old but showed his career was back on track when winning a Sandown handicap off a mark of 97 on his first run for Cowell.
