Ger Lyons and Colin Keane made it back-to-back wins in the Listed Blenheim Stakes courtesy of a scintillating performance from Beauty Crescent.

Keane had to be patient on the son of Acclamation but once the gap appeared with two furlongs to go, the gelding picked up in taking fashion to sweep past his rivals and win with plenty in hand to follow on from Straight Answer’s wide-margin win 12 months ago.

The manner in which Beauty Crescent saw out the 6f trip suggests he will improve for further, and Lyons now has his sights set on Hong Kong with the talented juvenile.

He said: “He’s improving all the time and is very relaxed now and he loved that.

“He’ll get further and the future is bright. It’s all about Mr Kwok [owner] and Hong Kong with him now.”

The victory saw Keane draw level with Billy Lee at the top of the Flat jockeys’ championship on 77 winners.

Big treble for Heffernan

Seamie Heffernan continued his brilliant run of form with a 3,794-1 treble.

Queens Command (10-1) got Heffernan going when landing the 7f fillies’ maiden for Kevin Coleman, before he partnered the Adrian Murray-trained Beautiful Sunshine (14-1) to victory in the 7f handicap for fillies and mares.

Heffernan completed an excellent day when 22-1 shot Pillar scored by a short head for trainer Keith Watson in division one of the 6f handicap.

Of Queens Command, Coleman said: “It worked out well – she’s been threatening to do that. She’s a big filly who was weak last year but is filling out well now. We don’t know her trip because she’s so laid-back.”

Beautiful Sunshine was collecting her third career success, and Murray said: “She was due one as she’s been running well. The little ease in the ground helped and the race went according to plan as she got a lovely run up the inside.

“We’ll probably go for a Listed race or a Group 3 with her now.

Game on point

She’s In The Game took advantage of a 5lb drop in the handicap to get back to winning ways in the 7f handicap.

The five-year-old overcame trouble in running to mow down long-time leader Mullacash Buzz by a neck to give 7lb claimer Neve Bennett her second winner of the season.

“I’m very happy with her,” said Bennett. “We got in a bit of trouble at the start and I was a bit further back than I wanted to be.

“She travelled well and quickened exactly when I wanted her to – we got a nice gap and she picked up well.”
