Second win 'just the beginning' as Remarkable Force books Royal Ascot spot
Saturday: Musselburgh
Royal Ascot is on the agenda for Remarkable Force according to trainer Alice Haynes, who described the son of Acclamation as her leading two-year-old colt following an impressive win in the 5f conditions stakes.
He followed up a good debut success at Salisbury to make every yard under Rowan Scott and strike by a length, giving his trainer a fifth two-year-old winner and a first at Musselburgh.
Haynes has yet to decide which race she will target at the Royal meeting, with options of the Windsor Castle, Norfolk or Coventry Stakes.
She said: "He did that really well which I was delighted to see. I thought five furlongs first time was a bit sharp for him but we've got away with it. This is just the beginning for him.
"We've got three options and we'll pick which way we want to go. He'll probably get away with the stiff five [furlongs]. He'd be my number one colt, he's got a very bright future."
Mixed results
Scott rode a double on the card with success in the £50,000 Edinburgh Cup on Hilts for Jedd O'Keeffe but the jockey picked up two-day bans from both of his winning rides.
The stewards said he used his whip too many times aboard Remarkable Force while he was punished for careless riding on Hilts.
Terrific treble
A last-gasp win for Lord Of The Glen gave Paul Mulrennan and trainer Jim Goldie a 727-1 treble. Mulrennan also had success aboard Tommy G in the 1m1f handicap and Yaaser in the 7f handicap.
