Much-loved series has them coming back for more
The second running of the £100,000 32Red Veterans' Handicap Chase nearly had the tear-jerking fairytale climax of Pete The Feat defying his status as the oldest of the old.
"Heartwarming" was the reaction from the winner's camp as Buywise finally had another day in the sun after so many gallant efforts in big Saturday handicaps.
If any further endorsement was needed of the series, trainer Evan Williams reported from Chepstow that his phone was singing with goodwill messages from Buywise's fan club, which has built up over more than four seasons.
