Longer trip of the RSA Chase should suit Yanworth best
Following his success in Monday's Dipper Novices' Chase, it looks as if connections might be leaning towards the RSA with Yanworth, a view which on balance seems correct.
Watching the race and also Yanworth's defeat to Willoughby Court at Newbury last month, it appears they sometimes go a touch too quick for him and we know he stays three miles well having won a Grade 1 over the distance as a hurdler last term.
It is a bit strange talking about a horse who won a Christmas Hurdle 12 months ago needing further than two and a half miles, but he always seems to be doing his best work towards the closing stages of a race and if a change of pace were to catch him out in the RSA, he would more likely overcome any such difficulty over the three miles than he would up against the possible likes of Footpad, Finian's Oscar and Willoughby Court (Monday's ground perhaps too soft for him) in a 2m4f JLT.
