'He won with a bit in hand' - prolific Probert thrilled with two winners
Sunday: Leicester
David Probert continues to ride out of his skin and completed a double on the Ian Williams-trained Sarsons Risk in the 1m4f handicap.
"He's had a break, but has a good staying pedigree behind him and connections were optimistic," said the jockey.
"He was comfortable, although I'm not sure he loved the quick ground. He got away with it and I think he'll improve again going further in trip down the line.
"He's obviously won with a bit in hand."
Probert, donning the silks of Roger Brookhouse for that success, had earlier won on Dora Penny in the 6f handicap.
"It was nice she backed up her two-year-old form and it looks like she's gone through a growth spurt," he added.
"She's back to her best and had a real nice gallop to aim at, which helped. Last year, she was compact and then got taller and maybe that's why she lost her form, but she's filled into herself now and it's great for David Evans, who trains her, and the owners Shropshire Wolves."
Victory for Valdai
The Clive Cox-trained Valdai made all to land the 7f novice under John Fahy, whose mount, racing in the colours of Nurlan Bizakov, was stepping up from a debut effort over five furlongs.
McDonald double
Senior rider PJ McDonald enjoyed a good day at the office and was on the mark twice, winning the 7f nursery on Nibras Rainbow and the 7f handicap on Yoshimi.
