The exciting three-year-old Set Piece maintained his unbeaten record with a smooth success over newcomer Sparkle In His Eye in the mile novice event.

Trained by Hugo Palmer for Khalid Abdullah, Set Piece suffered a bad bruise to his foot in the summer and his racecourse debut had to be delayed until last month. He scored in good style at Kempton on that occasion and followed up with a convincing three-length success here.

Jockey Luke Morris said: "He is a beautiful horse but far from the finished article mentally. What I really liked about him today was the way he stretched clear inside the final furlong."
