Dylan Hogan in sight of losing his claim after sparkling double in Norfolk
Apprentice Dylan Hogan moved just nine winners shy of losing his claim with a double on the North Denes, which was initiated when steering True Courage to a third successive victory in the 1m6f handicap.
After looking like getting into a scrap with market rival Sans Pretention turning for home, the 6-5 favourite, who is trained by Michael Bell, scooted clear in the straight to defeat Lady Pacifico.
Formerly attached to the David Simcock yard, Hogan turned freelance in February and the 3lb claimer said: "Mr Bell has been very good to me recently and it's great to notch a hat-trick on this fellow. I would think he may have a break after that as he's had two races in quick succession."
Newmarket-based Hogan also rides out for Marco Botti, whose Dark Scimitar provided the second leg of his haul when making all in the Class 6 1m3½f handicap.
The 6-1 chance was dropping in grade and stuck on dourly to repel favourite Tropical Cyclone.
The jockey added: "I'll ride work for anybody, but it's difficult getting rides as so many trainers have their own jockeys."
Marquand motors on
Jockey Tom Marquand moved just one behind his championship rivals Oisin Murphy and William Buick with a double highlighted by a seven-length romp on newcomer My Astra in the mile fillies' maiden.
After dismounting from the William Haggas trainee, the rider said: "I've had a good spell while Oisin has been quiet and William banned, but I dare say the other boys will have similar spells. I'll just get my head down and keep working away."
Marquand's brace started when Mostallim landed division one of the mile handicap for Mick Appleby.
Golden shines
Jane Chapple-Hyam registered her first win in the famous Anthony Oppenheimer colours when Golden Love landed a gamble in division two of the mile handicap under Pat Cosgrave
The daughter of Dubawi, who was backed into 6-4 favouritism from 5-2 in the morning, is bred to be a great deal better then her rating of 50 as she is from the family of Footstepsinthesand.
The Newmarket trainer said: "Mr Oppenheimer rang me up out of the blue and asked if I'd take this filly on and try and win a race with her. That's job done but she could win again on this showing."
Bolt secures hat-trick
Paul Mulrennan travelled down to the Norfolk coast primarily to renew his association with Boltaway in the Class 4 1m3½f handicap and duly completed a hat-trick on the classy looker.
The three-year-old was up in trip, but was not stopping when sinking front-runner Squelch to justify odds of 10-11.
The jockey said: "I'm very grateful to Roger Charlton for keeping me on this horse and I think there is more to come from him. It's always special to wear the Juddmonte silks and this horse could well be a nice horse later on."
Conway swaps studs for stalls
Richard Conway was working for RaceTech as a stalls handler only a few days after playing up front for the England over-50s side in an international against Jersey.
The 51-year-old, who also works for Jockey Club Estates on the Newmarket gallops, did not score in the 5-1 triumph, but is looking forward to the next international, which is at home to Wales on July 17.
