Jacob suffers abuse as 50-1 Hartforth downs favourite

Daryl Jacob was subjected to an astonishing string of abuse from an irate punter after the surprise defeat of odds-on West Of The Edge.
As Jacob unsaddled, the man began swearing loudly at the jockey, blaming him for the defeat of the 4-5 shot, who appeared to be cruising when hitting the front at the second-last in the 3m handicap hurdle.
The punter continued his tirade for several minutes as the owner of the Richard Newland-trained eight-year-old sprang to the defence of the rider.
