Punters might have thought it would be easy finding winners with just 31 runners in action but the uncompetitive card yielded a shock 125-1 success in the concluding event.

Kraka had been well beaten in all his previous outings this season, but the seven-year-old left that form behind to defeat five rivals in the mile handicap.

The Christine Dunnett-trained gelding was partnered by South African jockey Collen Storey, who was registering his third success since moving to Britain.

“This horse does not like company, so I tried to keep him away from the others and it has worked out,” Storey told Sky Racing.

Old pals' act

Chris Dwyer teamed up with his friend Silvestre de Sousa to secure victory with Aletoile – and the trainer is hoping to find another winner or two for the jockey before he departs for Hong Kong.

“Silvestre is simply the best and I’m delighted he's got another winner for me,” said Dwyer after Aletoile made all in the 1m2f handicap.

"I don't have many horses but I always try to get Silvestre to ride for me when he’s available," Dwyer added.

“He’s been a great jockey for me over the years and is also a great friend. If I ask him to ride one of mine in the morning at 6.00 I know he'll be there.

“I’m very sorry he’s going to ride in Hong Kong and I'm going to miss him. I'll be trying hard to find something else for Silvestre before he goes.”

Aletoile was registering her first success at the 17th attempt and may have finished racing as she is in foal to Nathaniel.

“She's in a little race at Lingfield next Tuesday but there's a good chance that this was her last race,” Dwyer said.
