Wincanton: Wednesday

Warren Greatrex broke a 45-day drought with his 50th runner in that period when smart prospect Abuffalosoldier landed the 2m4f novice hurdle.

The Lambourn trainer moved stables in October and admits the adjustment impacted on his stable's form, but in the last week things have seemed to be on the up. Greatrex had three seconds, while Roccowithlove travelled well before falling at Leicester on Tuesday.

The long-awaited winner came in the finale when the Henry Brooke-ridden five-year-old finished strongly to see off

Greatrex said: "We had some nice runners recently and hopefully that can help us kick on now. Sometimes you just need that one bit of luck and then you're away.

"We've moved yards, the gallops are the same, but it's just taken a bit of time to settle in. We've got some nice horses and have had great support. I knew from Christmas we had them in good form so it's been frustrating but you just have to keep going."

He added: "The winner's a very nice horse and jumped great on the whole. I thought he showed a really good attitude. He's a work in progress, he's a chaser down the line, but I'd say he'll improve a lot for that. He's very raw but he's got everything. He could be exciting for the future."

Cobden double

Harry Cobden took the first two races on the card, with Electric Annie taking the opener before the Paul Nicholls-trained Danny Kirwan ran out a stylish winner of the 2m4f novice chase.

"The right-handed flat track on good ground was in his favour and it's nice he got his head in front," Nicholls said.
