Blue Mist was luckless in the Silver Wokingham at Royal Ascot but everything went right for the talented handicapper back at the Berkshire track when landing the Moet & Chandon International Stakes.

The Roger Charlton-trained five-year-old, owned by Khalid Abdullah, travelled ominously well and the gaps appeared at the right times.

He kept on strongly once hitting the front inside the final furlong to defeat the staying-on Cliffs Of Capri by a length and a quarter in the £45,000 event. Cardsharp was the same distance back in third and Chiefofchiefs three-quarters of length behind in fourth.

It was a first win since October 2018 for Blue Mist – the last time he was ridden by Ryan Moore.

Moore said: "He's a lovely horse and has a great attitude. The race worked out well for him and he travelled beautifully. He has plenty of speed and talent."

No Nonsense was unsettled with rider Joey Haynes having his left foot out of the iron when the stalls opened, with the four-year-old running loose and Haynes left in the stalls. He was subsequently withdrawn by stewards with Haynes deemed not to be mounted when the stalls opened.

No Nonsense was an 80-1 shot so no Rule 4 was applied.

Trainer on fire! Richard Hannon completes treble with stylish winner Chindit

Richard Hannon started King George day with a bang and Chindit cemented it with a striking success in the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot, bringing the trainer a treble on the day.

Hannon had earlier struck with Mohawk King in the opening maiden contest and with Theotherside at Newmarket, but the son of Wootton Bassett came home powerfully a length and three-quarters ahead of 20-1 chance Cobh.

Having struck at Doncaster earlier this month, the juvenile went off a 15-2 chance in what looked a high quality renewal, but quickly put his rivals to bed in a matter of strides.

Speaking to ITV, winning jockey Pat Dobbs said: "He felt like he was half-speeding all the way, I was behind two form horses in the race so I was happy where I was sitting, but I didn’t think he’d pick up that well.

“He has a good turn of foot and loves fast ground. He’s by a very underrated sire I think, Wootton Bassett. He has good looking horses, their minds are very good and they’re good movers.”

Betfair introduced Chindit as a 25-1 chance for next year's Qipco 2,000 Guineas.
