Friday: York

Flotus ran out a resounding winner of the Summer Stakes, making all to claim her first Group victory.

The three-year-old followed up on an impressive run at Royal Ascot, where she finished third behind Perfect Power in the Commonwealth Cup at 40-1 under Silvestre de Sousa, who partnered the filly again at York.

Joint-trainer Ed Crisford said: "She ran a fantastic race at Ascot, finishing third to two very good horses who are running in the July Cup. We always had this race in mind to try and pick up that Group win and she absolutely bounced out of Royal Ascot.

"She did it very easily today, it was a great performance. She's a big-striding filly and likes to do things her own way. She's strengthened up and is a lot more powerful this year."

Flotus, a Listed winner and placed twice at the top level, including second in the Cheveley Park Stakes last season, is likely to head to Goodwood for the King George Stakes before a return to Group 1 company, with entries in the Nunthorpe and Betfair Sprint Cup.

"She's getting quicker," Crisford said. "Silvestre said five furlongs wouldn't be a problem and she's entered up at Goodwood and the Nunthorpe, so we'll speak to the owners and make a plan."

The Crisford team enjoyed a perfect afternoon when their other runner on the card, Saleymm, won the 7f handicap to complete a double for De Sousa.
