Sean Bowen makes light of Welsh winds to collect for father and Curtis

Sean Bowen: won on both his rides
Sean Bowen: notched a treble at Ffos Las on Monday

Fierce winds proved no hindrance to Sean Bowen, who landed a treble – two for his father Peter – to take the honours at Ffos Las.

The formidable father-and-son team claimed the opener with Equus Dancer before securing a debut win for Lermoos Legend in the 2m handicap chase.

Sean Bowen completed his treble with a comfortable win for the Rebecca Curtis-trained Minella Bobo, pulling 11 lengths clear of his brother James who finished second on his father's Landofsmiles.

Curtis said: "It’s great for Sean to get a treble, he’s a good jockey and obviously is a local lad so it’s nice to be able to support him.

"Minella Bobo is such a good jumper and it all worked out for him today. We’ll have to decide whether to look for another race or give him his summer break."

Winner for Wedge

The eight-year-old was just one of two runners Curtis sent from her yard in Pembrokeshire, and Geordie Des Champs made it a double to give Adam Wedge his first winner since his injury in March.

Wedge, who has been out of action since fracturing vertebrae at Newbury, steered the 18-1 shot to score by a neck.

Curtis added: "Adam getting that win is just brilliant. He’s been knocking on the door all last week with lots of seconds so it’s great to get him a winner. He’s been good to us and won some nice big races for the yard."

Wedge swiftly followed up his success by landing a double with the Evan Williams-trained Marble Moon in division one of the Class 5 3m handicap chase.
