A step up to Pattern company beckons for the classy Golden Pass after her connections' patience with the lightly raced filly was rewarded with a determined victory in the 1m4f handicap.

The daughter of Golden Horn picked up a third victory on her fifth start with a three-quarter length success, with trainer Hugo Palmer eyeing a quick return in Listed company at Goodwood at the end of the month.

"She's a really gutsy filly who has taken a long time to come to hand," he said. "Last year we had to space her races out quite carefully, but it's important for her to get black type and that's well within her grasp.

"We'll go for that next and the obvious place to go is for the Daisy Warwick Stakes at Goodwood on Guineas weekend."

The winner looks another classy performer for Palmer and owner Dr Ali Ridha, who have teamed up together for Group victories with the likes of Powerful Breeze.

Palmer added: "We're very lucky to have his support, his loyalty has consistently been rewarded and we have some lovely horses to go to war with this season."

Jockey Callum Shepherd doubled up on the day on the George Scott-trained George Peabody in the mile novice.

Toro Strike on the up

Toro Strike was an impressive winner of the feature 7f conditions stakes, with connections pondering a step up to the top level in the Lockinge Stakes next month.

The Al Shaqab-owned four-year-old was detached in the early stages but flew home to set up a tilt at the Newbury Group 1, which is sponsored by his owners.

Winning trainer Richard Fahey told Racing TV: "That was the best performance of his life and on the day it was the right race to ride. We've made the entry and everything is a possibility."
